An increasing number of people are getting active and loving it. They are running, swimming, dancing, cycling, competing in amateur competitions or traveling the world to do marathons in all the continents. Physical activity for them is the norm and life without it just wouldn’t seem right. There’s also the other group of people in the world who just don’t get exercise, who don’t understand the health benefits or the attraction in sweating for an hour in a spin class, running on a treadmill like a rat on a spinning wheel, or tackling some burly guy on a football field.
If you haven’t discovered the benefits of being active yet than making 2010 the year that you get started is one of the best things that you can do for your physical and mental health, social life and future. There are many reasons why you should get active today.
1 – You will reap health benefits that aren’t just for today but also for tomorrow. With age come diseases and other ailments, regular physical activity acts as a preventative medicine which can reduce the risk of many preventative medical conditions.
2 – Meet new people or meet the love of your life. Active people are everywhere and they can play an important role in your life in the future so if you want to make new friends, find a partner, or just socialize a bit, getting active may be the answer.
3 – The sooner you get started with physical activity the quicker you can reap the benefits. Running four times a week for thirty minutes at a time can help you lose weight, improve your heart health, increase lung capacity, and put a smile on your face.
4 – Active people stress less. Stress is detrimental to health and you want to avoid it as much as you can. Getting active in 2010 can help you eliminate stress from your life and clear your mind.
5 – Give yourself a challenge. Being physically active gives you the opportunity to challenge your body and achieve goals beyond your imagination. You can lose those 50kg; yes, you can run a marathon with a bit of training even if you’re forty and have never run before; taking part in a sprint triathlon is within your reach. Physical activity can help you challenge your mind and body and make you a happier person.
Being active is one of those things that we underestimate the importance of. A small amount of physical activity can make a huge difference in your life and 2010 is the year you ought to get started.
