The church. What is the definition of a good church? One definition is that it is a place to go to hear the Word of God and not only the word of God but, the true Word of God. Unfortunately, in many of today's churches, many Christians are not hearing and getting the true Word of God. Why is this happening? One of the reasons is apostasy. Let's look at the definition of apostasy. Apostasy means a total desertion of or departure from one's religion, principles, party, or cause. Because of apostasy, many Christians are getting the church's or pastor's opinions or religious practices but, not getting what God's word, The Bible really says. In the times we are currently living in, many churches in America have gotten away from what God's word says which The Bible says would happen in the last days before Jesus Christ comes back to earth. We are seeing apostasy happening right before our very eyes.

Let's examine some things that some American churches are doing and see if it lines up with scripture. Some churches are ordaining homosexuals into the ministry and having them preach in the pulpits of America. Homosexuality is a sin and a clear violation of God's word. Leviticus 18 and verse 22 says that if a man lies with a man as with a woman, it is an abomination. Homosexuality in the church is one example of apostasy. Let's look at another example of apostasy. Women pastors. Many denominations are ordaining women pastors, bishops, and having them lead congregations. What does the bible say? In First Timothy Chapter 4, it clearly states that the office of bishop is for men. Feminism has crept into many American churches and the word submissive has become a dirty word to many supposedly Christian women.

Other examples of apostasy in many American churches are-churches preaching that there are other ways to salvation other than Jesus Christ, there will be no rapture, that abortion is OK, that the concept of the trinity which is God in three persons, the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit is not true, and that the spiritual gifts of God have ceased and are no longer in operation. Because of apostasy, many Christians are not hearing and getting God's true word and and also, in my opinion, are not winning the lost to Christ. In order for Christians to be the light of the world as the Bible says we are to be, then we need to have and possess the true word of God. Christians must not let apostasy be victorious. We must stay true to God's word so he can be glorified and we can win the lost to Christ.
