Standing there.
Yelling at me.
Shaking her head.
Crying for me.
Why?
Doesn't she know that I've become something I like?
Why does she fear for me?
When will she see that I'm really just fine?
Taking my time.
When will she be okay?
Mother, Mother, do not cry.
I am fine, just as I said I would be.
Why are you crying for me?
You've made me what I am, so
Here I stand.
In front of you
Almost like a mirror
Gazing back.
Is that what you're afraid of?
Is it the fact that you were me
And you don't want me to be
Don't you see?
Yes, I am you, but I am proud of it.
Maybe I will be just like you
What would be wrong with that?
You are not so bad.
You are stronger than anyone.
You have faced the facts.
You have fought them all
And made it back.
I can only hope to be like you
Someday.
