Are you dreaming of more than just a white Christmas? If you envision your Christmas decor with a unique color scheme, whether royal peacock blue or cotton candy pink, there are plenty of ideas on how to make sure your decorations match your chosen palette and still look unmistakably "Christmas." You don't have to dress your house in the usual red and green to make it look festive, and your seasonal decorations don't have to look like everyday items you just set out because they happen to match your theme. Just scour the stores and search online for items that come in your colors of choice, but with a distinctly Christmas shape.
For example, look for ornament-shaped dishes, such as candy jars or serving plates, that come in your colors. These cute, festive containers are perfect for entertaining guests, holding seasonal candies, or setting out cookies for Santa. Because they're shaped like baubles, they look perfect for Christmas no matter what color they come in.
Another great item is a small decorative Christmas tree. You can find an aluminum tree in your main color and hang it with matching ornaments, or you can shop for simple decor that fits perfectly on your mantel. For example, a small beaded Christmas "tree" in a long, simple cone shape creates a sleek silhouette, or you can use an ornament tree to hang some of your favorite ornaments.
Decorative reindeer and sleighs are all the rage, and often they come in creative colors. A wire sleigh is a great way to display any ornaments that don't fit on your tree. Just load them in and arrange them so that your favorites are near the top. You could even set the sleigh in the middle of your Christmas table as your centerpiece.
It goes without saying that you can drape your tree from top to bottom with Christmas touches that match your unique color scheme. From the tree topper to the tree skirt, make your Christmas tree the main focus that pulls all your other decor together. Think of your tree as a large canvas just waiting for the perfect set of ornaments, tinsel, and lights in your chosen palette.
Keep the theme of your Christmas tree going throughout the rest of your house with colorful garlands wrapped around stair railings and draped over your fireplace mantel. Put up matching wreaths on your walls. Set out candles in your accent color. Look for Christmas towels, placemats, and tablecloths that come in your colors but have patterns with Christmas shapes on them, such as trees, holly, or reindeer.
All these touches help create a unified, creative look that will make your home a standout for the holidays!
