Tom Ford's White Patchouli is Divine and Now it's Mine!
Tom Ford's White Patchouli was launched in 2008 with American R&B artist Erykah Badou as the advertising face for the scent. Ford is an American Fashion Designer/film director. He was the creative director for Gucci and YSL from 1994 to 2004 after which he created the Tom Ford brand.
MY EXPERIENCE
I initially purchased the 30ml Eau De Parfum for £42.00 from House of Fraser, London, after my husband suggested I try it out. To be perfectly honest, I had no idea who Tom Ford was; I don't buy things because they're by famous designers (unlike my husband) but because I like them. I thought the bottle design was very attractive on first appearance and as my husband was raving about how nice he found the scent, I sprayed some from the tester quite liberally and after an hour of wearing it and my husband telling me every 5 minutes how wonderful it smelt on me I went for the 30ml thinking how I did really like the scent. I decided to go for the smallest available EDP size (30ml) so I wouldn't feel bad if it didn't suit my skin some time later. I needn't have worried; I liked the smell it gave off straight after wearing as well as the remaining scent hours later.
The promoters of White Patchouli describe it as "With its sensuous core of patchouli, Tom Ford White Patchouli perfectly captures the myth of a generation. Surrounded by sleek wood notes, tempered by elegant white flowers, this modern fragrance with retro-classic influences is a sophisticated interpretation of bohemian chic."
I can't pretend to understand all this hip talk about scents having "sophisticated interpretation" and "bohemian chic" - this kind of PR talk is pretty much lost on me but I personally REALLY like this scent and after a few weeks of using the scent, I'm happy to admit that I bought the 100ml size as well and this scent has earned a long term place on my dressing table and I wanted to make sure I didn't run out!
I've had numerous compliments from people whilst wearing White Patchouli, with people saying it's a very different scent for me and that it has a "pleasant incense" type smell.
THE NOTES / THE BOTTLE
The signature (or base) note for White Patchouli is patchouli orpur which emits the scent of crushed patchouli leaves. The heart/mid notes consist of bergamot and white peony whilst being accented by spicy coriander. The remaining notes are of blonde wood and incense.
