As Far As the Eye Can See
Lost among the remnants of a jagged shore,
the dawn blossomed open with a glorious ray of sunshine
that lit the winter sky with a warmth that engulfed
all lost dreams along the way.
And there was a sense of peace for as far as the eye can see.
She walked alone and afraid on the battered boards that separated the land from the sea,
and searched for a sense of familiarity in the eyes of strangers
that looked away and went about their own business
in the hushed moments that gave way to solitude
and created a loneliness of spirit for
far as the eye can see.
Hidden among the grains of sand
were melodic memories
that tore through her heart like a burning sword
and come out scared and empty
as she cried silent tears.
Sunsets on a life
that was never quite lived
and hopes dashed in an instant
and the shrill cries of the sea gulls
as they spread their wings to fly away
to a place where she knew they would be waiting
and there was the light of heaven's glow
for as far as the eye can see.

Off in the distance tonight
The moon o'er the heavens does glow

As far as it goes, a far fetched story
As likable as it is
Which goes as far as the eye can see
Nothing more, nothing less
