What happens when your favorite hole in the wall restaurant changes ownership?

Don't you just hate it when your favorite little place to eat is taken over by someone else that thinks they can do it better or are just amazed the the little small town wonder hasn't taken off to something really big. Well that's what just happened to me in a small town in Rockmart, Ga. Where T's Fish Market had been a landmark for over 20 years. Grant it I just came across this jewel less than 2 years ago, but have been a faithful patron since I was introduced. Best Fish and more than you can ever imagine. Seasoned to perfection, more food than you can eat in one sitting and just down home plain folk. The location is crappy, parking was hit or miss and the joint was downright old and smelly, but the food was always good and service with a small and southern accent from the owners' daughters who waited tables there.

Well now it's Tony's Tavern... and Tony just ain't T's. They kept part of T's menu to keep some of the previous owner's business but this is one customer that won't be back. The food was blah, blah.. no taste, smaller portions and less friendly than it use to be. When the owner asked me how was my meal as I was preparing to pay and leave I was silent. Not sure if I wanted to go into the no I was not happy with the meal gig. Then he asked again and I just came right out and told him and to my surprise he told me that I was the very 1st person to ever say the food was not good or even the same. He said the reviews he gets are that it's as good if not better. I politely said that they were probably trying to be nice and to not offend him. He took my comments graciously and didn't charge me for the meal, although that wasn't my intentions at all. I was going to be one of the silent customers that just never came back. Although I did tell him that I would try him again for some other items on his menu, I knew deep down in my heart that it was not worth the drive or my time to visit him again.

So long T's Fish Market. I hope you are enjoying your retirement.
