With Each Branch It Holds

When the tree is brought in the house

And it is ready for decorations to be donned,

We will be hoping on this Christmas day

That snow will fall on the lawn.

We will make sure that each branch is given

An ornament with a special meaning,

We'll bring out the ones that have a glow

As they sparkle in the evening.

There's the ornament that mom had made

When it was my very first Christmas,

She wanted it to bring a smile

With all of my Christmas wishes.

Then there is the angel, perched up high

With her gossamer wings aglow,

Daddy brought it home from overseas

In a land that doesn't snow.

With each branch the tree holds

There are so many memories,

With all of the ornaments that we've had

And all of the Christmas trees.

But none can compare

To the one that grandma had made,

One that will carry in our hearts

The one that she crocheted.

It was made like a Christmas wreath

But in the shape of a heart,

It is a one of a kind ornament

That will never come apart.

She made it with all of her love

And gave it for us to share,

And right before she died that day

She said, "I'll always be there."
