The benefits of Linux

If you have a slow computer, or you want to be rid of all virus threats, and annoying anti-virus software, then Linux is for you. Linux has a very customizable interface which runs way faster on slow computers, plus since Linux has a different coding than Windows, there are no virus threats or needs for anti-virus software.

Also, if you need top line security for your business, Linux will be the operating system you should choose, Linux provides the least high-level security problems of any operating system so far.

Just like Windows XP, Linux has a multi-user capability, which means that everyone in your family can have their own login, which basically is their Start-Up Programs, Interface, Privileges, etc.

Another reason is that Linux does not crash, evidently some Linux desktop computers have run for months sometimes years, without needing a single reboot.

Another cool thing is that Linux is a community relationship so, if you are a programmer looking for something to do in your free time then you can adjust Linux's  open-source code and give it to Linux or the community to have or use. You can also (if you are quite good at programming) do anything you want with Linux, that is the cool thing about Linux is, it is completely customizable, Linux gives you complete freedom

Also the most commercial Linux providers (Red Hat, Novell, Canonical) offer 24/7, 355 day a year support on all your Linux related problems.

Another good thing about the Linux operating system is that it is free to download, unlike the costly operating systems created by Microsoft.

For some of you, the real annoyance is that you have to use the command line to do some stuff in Linux, but once you discover the power of the command line, you will (probably) never turn back to use the mouse as you do in Windows.

The Linux foundation also provide regular updates and long-term updates that are easy to install, and what's better, no restart is required.

It doesn't matter whether your computer is fast or slow, new or old, if it runs Microsoft's Windows, then it will run most, if not all, different Linux operating systems.

Also, for you customizable types, Linux has several desktop managers, so you are able to customize the GUI to your hearts content, unlike Microsoft Windows.

Last but not least, Linux offers inexpensive desktop software, like Web Browsers, Presentations, Spreadsheets, E-Mail Clients, etc. At a reasonable if not free price.
