There are many moments when words never need to be said between couples. In fact, there is a certain air of intrigue associated with one who does not say much. They become mysterious to us and this adds to their attractiveness. However, we might find ourselves with someone who is extremely shy, and if we are attracted to them how do we get them to open up? Things we do can make things worse and possibly add to the moments of awkward silences, or we can have a successful date with someone who is very shy. Here are some tips in dealing with a shy date.
The number one thing to do is take the initiative. If you are able to gather any prior information on your date such as their likes, hobbies, interests, and so forth, then you can learn about them and begin the conversations about these subjects, not as a know it all, but as someone who is genuinely interested in them. You can draw the shy person out by asking questions about their interest keeping the tone on a moderate conversational level.
If you know nothing of your date prior to going out with them, then the best way to draw them out is to get to know them by asking questions to learn more about them. Some examples of what you might ask are what their musical interests are, or what type of movies they enjoy.
You can also complement them on a particular piece of jewlery or clothing they might have on, but be sure you are sincere in your compliment.
Another important thing to do is to use body language that is direct, but not threatening. You want your date to feel comfortable. When you talk to your date , make sure you are facing them, and avoid folding your arms. You also want to maintain eye contact. All these details make your date feel that your attention is on them.
Something else you would want to do is to reduce the space between the two of you as you both get more comfortable. This makes your intentions a little more personal.
Let your date get to know you by encouraging them to ask you questions about yourself. One thing to be sure of is that you are comfortable sharing information about yourself.
Remember that a shy date may take several dates for them to warm up to you and this might well be worth it if you interested in them.
