Things to do in Oklahoma City, OK during the winter

Winter in Oklahoma? Yes, even Oklahoma experiences different degrees of winter weather during December, January, and February. This doesn't mean you can't enjoy getting out and experience different activities during those winter months. Take Oklahoma City for instance, this city has many attractions you can enjoy as long as you're bundled up and have a willing spirit.

Oklahoma City, downtown, has several activities the whole family can take part in.  During December you can pretend you're on an Olympic team while you glide across the ice twirling and doing those triple jumps, ice skating. Devon Ice Rink is host and is open from noon to10 p.m. to the public.

How about Snow Tubing! Bricktown Ballpark host this fun winter activity. It's a first come, first serve service. Ten dollars will get you an hour and a half of tubing fun. Go by yourself or take the kids with you, just be sure you get there early enough.

As a family visiting Oklahoma City, or if you already live in Oklahoma City, you can take advantage of the O.G. & E.  Garden Lights located at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.  Gasps of delight are sure to resound when you see the thousands of lights adorning the garden.

Even in inclement weather, if you're brave enough, you can enjoy a day at the zoo in Oklahoma City. Pretend you're a polar bear and take in all the zoo has to offer. Warm up with a hot cup of hot chocolate and a meal, then head back out to finish your visit.

If you're a resident of Oklahoma City, all  you might need to do is step outside your doorway to see what your neighbors are up to with a tour of all their decorations. Play host to a neighborhood decoration competition.  You might even suggest a neighborhood winter feast, a drop in or by, where several families offer their home to share food and laughter with those of their neighborhood.

Oklahoma City host "FREE" Museum Days on Sundays during the month of December. This is a great time to gather everyone for a bit of past and local history. Kindle a love for the arts and sciences. Each of the four Museums has a free Sunday for all to enjoy, then on December the 27th, all the Museums are free on that day to enjoy.

Take a holiday cruise on the Oklahoma River Holiday Cruises. Who said you only had to cruise the ocean to take advantage of an event like this!

For more information on some of the above listed events check out Downtown in December for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. When it comes to winter and the need for things to do during the winters months, Oklahoma City isn't lacking things to do. With a little bit of research and imagination you'll be able to find and enjoy a plethora of things to do.

Those same winds which blow during the warmer months, but don't keep you from being active, blow during the winter months as well, you just need to don a warm coat, put on your scarf and mittens, then hat and get out and take part in all the winter activities available.
