A pale face framed
in tar-black fur,
a contrast
that first startled
and then allured.
Severe blue eyes widened
to take in their prey,
mimicking human warmth,
thus fight-or-flight was delayed.
Smooth mocha skin
over muscles stretched;
on a blemish-free surface
illusions of innocence rest.
Memories of men
who cheated forgotten fate
by blurring the line
between love and hate.
