It's certainly no secret that the film industry appears to be one of the most glamorous industries to work in. And to some degree it is. Movie directors, actors, and film technicians enjoy many privileges that the average "civilian" does not- V.I.P. treatments, access to exclusive parties, and plenty of perks not associated with the handsome paychecks typically earned.

But along with fame, fortune, and glamour come quite a few major drawbacks. In addition to studying hundreds of pages of scripts and screenplays, actors and actresses often work 16 to 18 hour days. Depending upon the role, sometimes they are even put through grueling physical preparation which includes strenuous workouts, and specialized training. In addition to that, extensive traveling can also put a strain on the body and mind-which undoubtedly is the caveat to many "revolving door" relationships. Those who work behind the cameras (grips, best boys, sound technicians) are taxed just as much, if not more-in an effort to make sure that the films are blockbuster hits.

In essence, the answer is Yes and No. Most of the "glamor" is observed by the public only AFTER months (and sometimes years) of unglamorous work has been done behind the scenes. It's a lucrative payoff that can three times as strenuous to achieve.
