Is Christmas becoming too commercialized? This is a question many people ask today. But like every other holiday, Christmas deserves its share of publicity. The holiday season in which Christmas is celebrated has over the years given opportunity to many commercial ventures, but the commercial aspect of the season is not the reason for celebration. The commercialization of the season does not depict the reason for Christmas. Many organizations have taken advantage of the holiday season to promote their products; but are they promoting Christmas in reality? No. For this reason I can comfortably say that Christmas has not become too commercialized.
In asking if "Christmas is becoming too commercialized"; it is important to define whether the question refers to the holiday season, or to the birth of Christ.
Referring to the holiday season, there is a lot of commercial activity during the Christmas season. But there is also a lot of commercial activity during the Easter holiday, thanksgiving, Idd for the Muslims, and every other religious holidays in the world. The reason for this is because people try to create items and mementos that can be kept as memories of certain periods in time. Holidays are for enjoying. People celebrate and enjoy holidays in different ways. Gifts are bought and exchanged. Donations to the poor and other worthy causes and communities are made. Holidays are seasons for giving. Organizations which specialize in products that portray certain holidays take advantage of the seasons to promote and sell their wares.
The commercializing aspect of Christmas is a marketing concept of businesses around the world. But this commercialization does not promote the real reason for Christmas which is the birth of Jesus Christ.
Christmas day, December 25th, has been set aside for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a day that followers of Christ usually come together in churches across the globe to give thanks, to honor, to rejoice and to remember that God Almighty gave the world a Savior in the birth of Jesus Christ to the virgin Mary. Christmas is celebrated as a tribute of gratitude to God for giving the world Jesus.
Because of the fact that Christmas falls during a holiday season at the close of the year, many people take this time to re-unite with old friends and family members. After
