"Diablo: Hellfire," an expansion pack for Diablo produced by Sierra, contains two additional dungeons with four levels each: the Hive and the Crypt. Each dungeon serves as a sort of extended quest, with smaller quests nested inside them. In addition, there are two hidden quests which can be activated using the command.txt file.

It also allows you to play as a new character, the Monk, and two hidden test characters, the Bard and Barbarian.

The Hive (The Farmer's Orchard/The Defiler)

"Hellfire" introduces a new character in town, Lester the Farmer, who appears standing next to the cows. His orchard has been taken over by giant insects, and he needs help clearing them out. Once you clear out the Catacombs or reach Level 15, you can click on Lester the Farmer to receive the Rune Bomb, which you must use to open the Hive (across the bridge at the fork in the river, below Adria's shack).

The Hive contains four levels comparable in difficulty to the Caves, and the monsters have an insect theme. Once you reach the fourth level, there is an additional quest: killing the Defiler, a large, insectoid demon. Once dead, the Defiler drops a Cathedral Map, which you must use to enter the Crypt.

Once you clear out the Crypt, they can return to Lester the Farmer. As a reward, he will give you the Auric Amulet, an amulet which allows you to carry 10,000 gold coins per inventory slot instead of 5,000. This amulet is necessary to carry enough gold to purchase some of the more expensive items in Hellfire while still leaving room in the Inventory for the item itself.

The Crypt (Grave Matters/Na-Krul/Torn Notes)

For the first part of the Crypt quest, Grave Matters, you must take the Cathedral Map to Gillian. She will instruct you on how to use the map to open the Crypt, which is located in the church yard.

Like the Hive, the Crypt consists of four additional levels, this time comparable in difficulty to Hell. Its layout is similar to the Church levels and it contains monsters such as Liches and Firebats, fast-moving monsters with powerful ranged attacks.

The Cornerstone of the World is in a small room on the first level of the Crypt. While not technically a quest, it does serve as a reward for clearing out the first level of the Crypt. When you place an item on the Cornerstone of the World, the item can be transferred between the players' other games with other characters. (According to Jarulf's Guide, however, there is a bug which sometimes prevents the item from transferring and
