Coping with the loss of a dog
Here are some ways you can deal with the loss of your beloved dog. The loss of your pet can be so devastating and we sometimes need help trying to cope.
1. Talk about your loss with your loved ones. Talk about how he/she made a difference in your live. Allow the pain to over take you and let the tears flow. It's totally normal to grieve and don't let anyone tell you different. If you hurt let it go don't hold it inside. It's not good for your well being. There is always someone around that knows the pain you feel. The best thing to do is get it all out. Yell, scream, rip a phonebook apart. Do whatever it takes to ease the pain but don't hurt yourself in the process . In time the pain will ease and the memories will make you smile instead of sad. Let it out you will feel better in time I promise
2. Look over pictures and remember all the good times you had together. Please forget the bad times. When you dwell on the bad you start to regret things you should of done. Only hold onto the times when you and your pet had a great time. Cherish those moments they will get you through. You were truly bless to have them in your life for the time that you did. Only remember them healthy don't allow yourself to remember them ill or hurt ect. This will only bring you tears and regret of what could have been or what should have been. They loved you and you love them that's all that mattered.
3. Make a memorial site for your pet. Make it a special place for you to go and spend time with them. It may sound strange but it has worked for many people. We made a special grave stone for our pet. We made it with a misshaped stepping stone. You can use whatever material you would like. I like the stone because it will last forever. I bought some wooden craft letters. We painted his name, his birth and his passing date . We also had some room to write on the stone how much he meant to us. We made a special place in out back yard for his stone. When we miss him to much we walk to the stone and tell him so. I know in my heart he is with me everywhere. But to know that I have a special place that is just made for him and I has gave me great comfort.
4. If your having a real hard time dealing with the loss. There are many support groups out there to go to. Pet loss support groups are wonderful. You will meet others that are feeling the same way you are. You will be in a group of people that understand your pain and won't judge you. Sometimes the pain can be so
