New York City is a cornucopia of sights and sounds when it comes to Christmas time. It can become quite the sensory overload if you don’t know just the right spots to take in or the right events to attend. New York is known to have some amazing new Christmas events, but some events are held annually.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

For over 80 years, Macy’s organizes a massive Thanksgiving Day parade that jump starts holiday cheer around the world. This parade has set the bar high for other parades with its spectacular floats, massive balloon characters, several marching bands and a variety of performers. People come from all over the world to witness this amazing parade. Check the

Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center has been a landmark tradition in New York City for over 75 years. The Rockefeller Center is located in the center of 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue and 47th Street and 50th Street. Using a massive Norway spruce with LED lights, the tree lighting ceremony is New York’s main event to complete kick off to the Christmas holidays. Typically the tree is lit a week after Thanksgiving and will remain lit from 5:30am to 11:30pm each day except for Christmas when it is lit all day.  Although nothing beats attending the ceremony in person, it is always televised so that people around the world can watch this amazing event. Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Performing each holiday season since 1933, the Radio City Rockettes entertain audiences of all ages with marvelously choreographed shows and stunning costumes. New York City Ballet’s Nutcracker

For more than sixty years, the New York City Ballet has delighted audiences with an outstanding performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker each Christmas season. Each performance is performed at Lincoln Center Plaza in the David H. Koch Theatre. Tickets range from $20.00 to over $200.00 depending seating and which day you plan to attend.
