A duel between the Man-of-steel and the Dark Knight of Gotham?  What a spectacle!  Could either win in such a contest?  Have our caped-heroes finally met their match!? .... A doomed ending?  A diabolical new nemesis! ... Well read on and discover the shocking truth!

To my mind Superman has always been embodied by a type of unshielded brilliance.  A superhero of the brightest sunlight, complete and to the point.  Revealed with little mystery.  Whereas Batman is a study of a tortured psyche.  Shadowy and mysterious he works most effectively in the darkened streets of the metropolis.  Fighting the bad guys (and gals - miaow!), and his own demons!  Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne, being their alter-egos, are similar in make-up.  Strong, dependable and conservative hardworkers.  They could almost be a mirror image of each other although Bruce does have a greater social ease and self-confidence, things that Clark tends to lack.

Superman's edge may be that he has great brute strength and would be able to lift large, heavy objects to use as weapons or for shielding purposes.  His speed in movement would also allow him to dodge and weave any counter attack from the fighting bat but would that be enough to avoid the lightning reflexes and myriad of gadgets that Batman possesses?  At any stage during the battle, Superman could fly off in to the ether in order to take a much needed break; Batman is not as adept in his flying skills and tends to use special equipment in order to make short range flights and leaps from up above.

Returning to the caped wonderboys; the scene is set.  Batman and Superman face-off in battle.  Superman has x-ray visionary powers and unflagging stamina.  Batman has flexible speed, a plethora of bat gadgets and perhaps Robin to fill-in if needed.  Bam!  Pow!  Whack!  Ka-zoink!  Whopcha!  But wait just one minute, is that a glowing green lump of meteor I espy?  Whereas Batman is not seen as having an obvious flaw in his armour, besides his own personal psychological conundrums, Superman doesn't fare well in the presence of dreaded Kryptonite!

So, to cut the story short, Batman would reign supreme .... if he could just get his knotty, black latex hands on some of that green stuff! GAME OVER ....
