Luckily my daughters are past the teenage years but I remember them well and buying presents for them at Christmas was always very tricky as they both had very different tastes to each other. One was into Michael Jackson, make-up, dressing up and going shopping with her girl friends whilst the other was into grunge music, hoodies baggy jeans and extreme sports. Two totally opposite trends so it was always a hard job buying them things as I never could get it right.
As you can imagine these tastes were worlds apart, so the best thing I found was to buy gift vouchers for the music shops. This way they could chose their own music as sometimes I hadn't a clue who they were listening to and what the names of the bands were. So, with the gift vouchers they could buy their own music.
I also found that gift vouchers from clothes shops were great as they could then go out in the sales after Christmas and buy their own clothes as I had long given up trying to buy clothes for them, buying the wrong top would inevitably get me a sulk or a "what is that ? " remark as I had no idea of the fashions they would and would not wear and with teenage girls it is all about what their friends are wearing at that particular phase or fashion.
One thing I did do was to open a Pay pal account for them both and put money into it then they could both buy things from Ebay and other on-line sites, I found this to be a real thumbs up present as they could then have the freedom to buy the clothes, gadgets, sports equipment and lots of other things they liked. This idea gave me lots of creds with the girls that year.
Then the last resort is always a card with money in, this is the best present as they love to choose their own presents whilst out shopping with their friends. You can't go wrong with money in a card for teenage girls as they can buy the make-up, shoes, trainers, music or whatever they like as well as have a great day out shopping with their friends.
Like I said, buying for girls of a certain age can sometimes be a nightmare as your taste is not always theirs so to be on the safe side these idea's may be helpful.
