How to stay healthy and fit on a budget

In these dire times we have quite grown adept at taking advantage of combo offers.   Couple that with a need to maximize our time, we eventually end up so revved up that we get confused with what to put on top of those priority lists. The goal is always getting the best value for our money. Sadly though, health needs tend to go way down that list as we try to tighten our belts.

The good news is keeping healthy doesn’t have to turn our finances into an “unhealthy” state. Knowing when to tighten our purse strings and when to put our money into good use can go a long way when it comes to managing our finances. Although some might forget, our health should be our primary investment. After all, good health means us getting more out of life and its surprises.

Save: Know your body.

The most important thing about keeping fit and healthy is being familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of your own body. Pining for the physique of this star or that athlete just won’t cut it. No matter how hard you exercise or how much you diet, your body can only take so much.

Knowing your body type, you’re suggested Basic Mass Index or BMI and your medical history can help you achieve the best attainable physique for you.  These facts can help you design your way around a proper workout routine and balanced diet for you.

Save: Drop your gym membership.

Okay, hold on to your horses. We’re not advocating that you stop working out—or whatever it is that you do at the gym. Gym memberships are pretty pricey. If you really want to achieve a good looking physique, there’s nothing like real work for that total body workout that you crave for. Walk those stairs at your apartment, have a stroll, mow your own lawn—better yet do some gardening.

You might be worrying about gym equipments and its role in keeping you fit.  One thing positive about being on a budget is that it really drives you to be creative. Worried about your weight training? No worries! You can use water- filled mineral water bottles as substitutes. Why pay for a treadmill when there are miles of pavement just waiting for you to jog in?

Alternatives can just be sitting around your house just waiting to emerge from that thick layer of dust.

Save: Don’t be a victim of fad diets.

Let’s face it we all want to achieve the perfect figure that Hollywood stars have. Well who doesn’t? The problem with that would be how easily we can be trapped
