Poetry: Step-fathers

by David Greenwell

Created on: November 20, 2010

The years have passed, since the day, your mom and I first met.

I took a chance, at one first glance, that this was heaven sent.

Two young kids so innocent, so torn up from the past.

I jumped right in to fill the void, as it was made to last.

The days go by, the feelings grow.

They call me dad, because they know.

I love them both as if my own,

I'll never make them feel alone.

A loving dad is what I'll be.

I'll raise them up to reach their dreams.

They make me feel so gosh darn proud.

I love you both, I'll say it loud.
