Lament, for leaving behind
The bar once heaved, breathing
friends in every corner
rare passing, faint traces
experiences linked in warmth,
yet it is shadows, all you leave me today
square one, sniggers
fighting hard not to concede
you all move forwards, miles apart
as I walk home cold
in stationary wait
so answer me, this I ask, loudly with siren blare
shock me from a bedroom slumber
take my hand and show me
how to put to rest
dreams,
of refusing to let it all slip away?
Growing up is the devil’s work
for God knows it’s hard,
to let go
hear memories sigh, weaken my knees like
old age striking
at the fabric of every image
all the travel, all the colours
what a whirling past
without visible love
something to hold
I cannot go on
those moments, we gave them all we had,
for the sake of whatever came along, we gave it everything
never will I fear sharing
I do miss you
place your faith in me
for I will not call you childish
if you wish to keep believing
in something
such a pledge breaks apart
all that fear, shuddering
in days laid out, plain
these words snap with violence
more, more to give
swear silently
crunch gravel with new steps
I am ready, to move on
with you

I lived for the moments we spent together;
For your smile, your touch, your embrace...
