How to care for your action figures collection

Action figures are highly collectible. Ask any child and it seems that they collect some form of action figure. But this type of toy collection can cost hundreds of dollars to build and the small plastic action figures should be well looked after so that any younger siblings can enjoy them when their time comes.

Action figures are durable. Usually the figures are well jointed which means that you can interchange clothing and accessories. If you do not put the action figures away properly after every play session then you run the risk of losing some of the tiny parts. The action figures have weapons that can easily get sucked up into the vacuum cleaner.

Try to keep your action figures in their collections. For example if you collect Star Wars figures then buy a large plastic storage box and keep the collection all together. Get another box for your Playmobil collection and one for the Lego figures. Warhammer figures are also very popular, they may be used for battle purposes and they are not quite as robust as some of the other action figures. Keeping each collection of action figures all together will mean that you do not have to turn out the entire contents of the toy box to find a particular action figure that your child is looking for.

Many action figures are made from a hard wearing plastic and they can be washed. When the small figures have been played with for hours on end then they will become grubby and sticky. Wash the action figures in a bowl of warm soapy water to freshen them up.

Sets of action figures can be extremely expensive. But these sets can also be looked upon as an investment. When you or your child is given a new set of action figures then keep the box. Store the box in the loft, toy collectors will look for pristine packaging. After watching some second hand action figures sell on the Internet auction sites it is noticeable that they are selling well.

For every range of action figures there are various larger toys that go with the set. Toys like the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars and the large Playmobil pirate ships will surely become very collectible in years to come.

Inevitably some action figures will get damaged. If the damaged action figure is a much loved part of a set then look at the used figures on the Internet auction sites and find a replacement.
