When i was child ,
it looked to me,
like i would never grow old,
old men looked like fools before me.
I looked down upon them,
i always put my self ahead ,
in everything that happened ,
i never wanted to compromise with them.
I pushed them aside easily,
Then i jumped ahead on the line proudly,
then i would tease them ,
I will knock you down oldy .
They would beg repeatedly,
the n i would feel like a king,
i felt like i owned the universe,
and everything that it has.
Little did i know ,
that one time ,
my turn would come
to grow old.
Slowly by slowly ,
my strength left me,
I couldn't force it ,
To stay in me forever .
My strength ,
left me ,
against my will,
i never wanted it to.
I can't chew any more ,
nor drink anymore ,
nor kick powerfully anymore,
nor laugh with women anymore.
I watch the young people,
doing what i used to do,
proudly and energeticaly,
and wish that i could caution them.
Today on this date,
i look like a fool ,
before the young,
i feel very ashamed about the whole thing.
It is my turn,
to look likea fool,
before God,
and wish that i knew.
OOOOHHH!
poor me,
i wish that ,
someone had warned me.
Had i known ,
I would have ,
spent my youth ,
wisely.
I wouldn't,
have laughed ,
at old age,
ohh foolish me!
Ohh good lord ,
forgive me ,
this ones,
for iam now wise.
Tell the young onesthese secret,
that old age is gold,
spent your youth wisely,
for you live only ones.

Poetry: Aging
Years slowly settle on us, like the dust
In layers first invisible, then white
Borne by the unsuspecting air, it must
Upon
Aging doesn't bring just wrinkles and gray hair
But wisdom and experience - a powerful pair
When I look in the mirror as
The room is still
The light shines through the blinds
We wake, the sun glows, the birds sing
The cat stirs
it winds its tail
You ask, "How are you?" Before I answer, let me say:
I have always had a vegetable garden - for over fifty years
I have watched
by Roy Blokker
What do you know of aging?
Your first gray hairs peek out
like frightened ducks near the blind,
your bones protest a bit too
