Poetry: Becoming a grandmother

by Kirsten Callejas

Created on: November 19, 2010

Tiny fists reach awkwardly into the air.

I watch from a distance

With love, in awe.

I know you, my precious grandson.

I have been waiting, watching.

I can stand like granite

To support, encourage, strengthen, forever.

The granite softens as I take you in my arms.

My life will never be the same.
