Picking the perfect winter wedding dress is a huge responsibility. You're going to be the centre of attention. All eyes are going to be on you as you're walking down the aisle. You want to look perfect, and elegant, fitting to your winter wonderland setting.
With so many options, how do you know where to start? It's probably best to start with what's popular right now, and then continue searching once you get a feel for what you like. If you see what's in fashion you may find that you like it, but if not it gets your foot in the door for the types of options that are out there for you.
The 2010 winter wedding season is seeing the comeback of vintage fashion, for example. Inspired by the 1920s and the 1950s, the season is embracing shorter and more embellished wedding dresses. Picture shorter dresses with flowers and frills, lace, etc. It's very glamorous and very chic. Brides everywhere are enjoying it and finding that it adds elegance and grace to their cold-weathered romance.
A real vintage wedding dress costs a lot of money though, so consider shopping for a vintage inspired dress if that's what you fancy. Don't forget, this is just a starting point though.
Not sold on a vintage dress yet? What about the accessories that go with it? Of course, you must look at the accessories too. A vintage wedding dress allows for a lot of fun and excitement in accessories, while still looking gorgeous.
Vintage weddings are all about romance as is the winter season, which is why they are so fitting. Think about flowers and lace. Try out pearls, jewels, antique accessories, and shorter trains and veils. The popular birdcage veil is also very popular this year, perhaps you've seen some celebrities wearing it.
Still not sounding like the perfect dress for your winter wedding? Why not try something classy? Winter is the perfect time to wear a ballroom gown or a princess dress. Strapless dresses have been popular for a few years and are remaining popular. Why not couple your dress with a wrap to stay warm? Look elegant with a faux-fur wrap over top of your princess dress. Find something that's comfortable but also flattering to the style that you're looking to portray.
Medieval and Celtic dresses also look beautiful in the winter season and the winter acts as a perfect backdrop to the rich colours that you'll see at a Medieval-themed wedding. You could also try adding colour. Many medieval wedding gowns come in different colours. Whether you're getting a coloured dress or just looking for accents on your dress, remember that your dress plays a role in the overall theme of the wedding. Blues are a popular colour this season for bridesmaids, why not add some blue into your wedding gown to tie the wedding together? Anything is possible when it comes to your wedding dress.
Don't feel obligated to follow trends of the season. Experiment with different styles and wear what you think makes you look the most beautiful. Wear whatever you like, whatever makes you feel comfortable, and whatever compliments the theme of your winter wedding.
