Why democracy is or isn't the best method for every country

If Democracy is not considered to be the best option for every country, then we had better take a look at our own commitment to that particular form of government. It makes no sense to fight wars, to sacrifice lives, to label people as unpatriotic, and to waste national treasure for a system that we do not believe in enough to encourage it for the betterment of life for others.

Democracy is based on the fundamental principle that the will, rights and needs of the citizens are the overriding authority and that such authority is more powerful than any one ruler or any one agency of government. Democracy is predicated on the right of legal citizens who are in good standing to decide who leads their government and to decide, to a certain extent, how their nation operates.

The truth is that the so called democracies of the world have become powerful countries because of past and present principles and agendas that are nowhere close to democratic ones. But the so called democratic and powerful countries of the world are also responsible for the internecine intrusion, interference and disruption of life in weaker countries.

Perhaps we are not living in a true democracy ourselves. There are more than enough of us who contradict ourselves by loudly complaining that our government representatives are corrupted, greedy, self interested and useless, but who also want more peoples of the world to live under democratic styles of government.

As to an alternative form of government, how about working on getting a true democracy and not the patched together and hybrid messes that have become our so called "democracies"?

A true, uncorrupted democracy that operates without having constant external threat and interference is the best form of government for any nation, especially those that needs to stabilize and to make the most of their resources according to the will and the needs of the people. The problem is that it is the most powerful democracies seem to be bent on preventing other democracies from forming and developing in ways that empower and benefit the people rather than the elites.

In other words, if there is ever a true democracy, perhaps there will be a way to say that it is best for all peoples of the world. Right now, the existing democracies have to get themselves back in order before attempting to decide what is best for people in other government systems.
