Our destiny is created by what we do every day. Our gravestone will dive the date of birth and the date of death with a dash separating the two. Our destiny is created be the dash. The dash is a culmination of what we did during the millions of moments when alive.
Our destiny begins in the mind with our thoughts. Please remember the research indicating that we have 60,000 thoughts a day with 80 percent of them on the negative side. We cannot control the thoughts that enter relentlessly throughout the day but we control what we do about them.
So, the next step in the process of creating a destiny represents our behavior. Motivational speaker Tony Robbins said, " We judge ourselves by intention; other people judge us by our actions". This perspective has significant value in both our personal and professional lives. In our personal life please consider the value of the following quote" What I see speaks so loud I can't hear what you say Our children and loved ones look at our behavior which determines whether we have positive or negative influence. In our professional life, effective leadership and respect from coworkers is determine3d by out actions matching our words.
Actions consistently repeated create our habits. We are conditioned by our habits. Example: Fold your arms, Then switch them. I have participants many times to perform that exercise and many people have difficulty when switching. Put another way, successful people are more successful than the rest of us because of more positive habits. A habit can be developed as research indicates that habits are formulated if we repeat the behavior for 21 days. As a former Time management trainer, i asked participants for spend 15 minutes a day ( 1 percent of the day) in order to cultivate a more productive 99 percent.
Outr habits formulate into our character. It is our character that determines our destiny and how we will be remembered. As a final note, please consider the difference between accomplishment and character. With accomplishment, we do not always have control. Nepotism, politics and economic conditions are proof of that. Our character is always a choice. No one. despite their power and wealth, can take our character away from us.
Please consider the following quotes, " Watch you thoughts, they become your words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny"!
