It's your wedding and you've selected a few of your closest female companions to accompany you on your big day. What an honour for them! Now they will be showering you in attention, helping you with the planning and preparation for your big day, and making sure that everything runs smoothly and is enjoyable. What can you do for them? Why not give your bridesmaids beautiful dresses to wear to thank them for their assistance with your wedding and for their friendship and love throughout life? Below is some of the trends that are popular in 2010.

Let's start simple, one of the biggest trends this season is - mismatched dresses. What does that mean? Basically, as the bride you will be the colour of dress that you want your girls to wear and they're free to chose the style of dress. This is great if you have bridesmaids of different shapes, sizes, or ages. If you have your thirteen-year-old sister as one bridesmaid and your best friend as another bridesmaid, the girls will feel more comfortable wearing different shapes and styles. Your sister may prefer something more conservative whereas your best friend may want to look sexy and try out some of the other trends in this article. Not only does it give your girls more freedom but it's more likely that they will want to wear the dress again if it's a shape and style that they chose- this is also big in 2010.

Black bridesmaid dresses are big in 2010. Why choose black? Simple. It can be worn again. Every woman needs a little black dress, or even a long black dress. Black suits most skin types and is a flattering shade. Using a black dress also allows you to have more freedom with accessories and accents. Imagine the jewellery that your bridesmaids could wear with black dresses. While the economy is still repairing, it's quite popular to pick dresses that can be used again rather than sitting at the back of the closet never to be worn again. I'm sure many of you have a bridesmaid dress that you wore sitting in the back of your closet, something that you loved wearing the day of the wedding and haven't even looked at since. Practicality is a huge deal when picking a bridesmaid dress so find dresses that can easily be worn again. If you're not into black, don't feel restricted though. You can also try out greys and browns.

Still not sold on the idea of wearing black, grey, or brown but want a dress that still more affordable? Why not a cocktail dress? Cocktail dresses are very popular this year. Not
