by Rainier Wong

Created on: November 18, 2010

Christmas is a time for sharing and this can be expressed by exchanging gifts with friends, relatives and loved ones. It is not necessary that a gift has to be purchased and be expensive in order to be appreciated by the recipient. In fact you can make your own inexpensive gifts and as long as it is practical or attractive, it will be appreciated. As the old saying goes, "It is the thought that counts".

Here are some inexpensive homemade gifts you can create Christmas. Making some of the gifts may require you to have some cooking, handicraft or technical skills. No matter what skills you have, the gifts are not difficult to make and the materials required are not expensive. In fact, some of the materials required may be easily found in your home.

"Homemade Christmas Cookies"

Making this gift requires you to have some cooking skills. If you have been making cookies before and people like to eat them, you may want to make some to be given as gifts to your friends. You may make the cookies by looking at a recipe or by depending on your own creative idea. Once your cookies are baked and are ready to be served, place them in a clean container and wrap the container with some Christmas gift wrapper.

"The Christmas House"

Making this gift requires you to have some handicraft skills. Firstly, gather the materials required which are some old newspaper, some glue, an old shoebox, enough cardboard to make a roof that fits, some cotton, some crayons, some red enamel paint and some white enamel paint. Secondly, gather the tools that are needed to make the gift which is a pair of scissors and a ruler. Here is how you can make the Christmas house.

1. Tear a page of the old newspaper into tiny pieces.

2.  Make the roof with the cardboard. Use the ruler to ensure the correct measurement for the roof so that it fits well to the shoebox.

3. Attached the roof to the shoebox to make a house.

4. Apply glue all over the house.

5. Paste the the pieces of the newspaper all over house until they are covered entirely with the pieces of old newspaper. Make sure that the pieces of the old newspaper are glued properly to the house.

6. Paint the walls of the house with white enamel paint.

7. Paint the roof of the house with red enamel paint.

8. Wait for the paint to dry completely.

9. Once, the paint is dried, paste some cotton on the roof to give the impression that it is being covered with snow.

10. Use crayon to draw two door and six windows. Try to be as creative as much you can
