My girlfriends and I have a lot in common. We have been through thick and thin when it came to the opposite sex, parties, clubs, birth and death. We virtually have been there together and seen it all. Despite all that, we never allowed life's challenges, work, spouses and others to get in the way. However, in the last few years we noticed that we are not keeping up with our relationship as years gone by. Of course, it was obvious that we had more responsibilities on our hands. Moreover, out of the four of us, two of us were married with kids. The other two lived with spouses.
Part of the problem was that we had allowed the high tech world to take control of our lives. At first it was euphoric and exciting. We would do our multiple texting and communicated on to Twitter and Facebook several times per day....trying to be in the loop. Although we were constantly informed each other's movements; we realised that our relationship was not nourished. It was at my last birthday that we made a decision to meet up once per month and do something fun. It would be a girls' night out.The pact was made and sealed.
Unfortunately, Tammy was asbsent. Her son of four years developed a terrible cold and required mommy's attention. As a result, the three of us girls hit the road. We were very disappointed because Tammy is the life of the party and she would be terribly missed. Anyway, we decided that the show had to go on. Thus, we ventured in the heart of the city to this popular Mexican/Spanish eatery. This restaurant is rated a five-star one; and the food was certainly a mouthwatering delight. Moreover, the highlight of the dinner was the sculpted male servers who chose to give each of us extra special attention which made us giggled like school girls. Moreover, the scantly clad bodies seemed like they were specially oiled to draw attention to all the muscles.
In the middle of the establishment, there was a small dance floor. A band played the most intoxicating Mexican/Spanish music to the ears. As the night progressed a few of the patrons moved to the dance floor. As the music played a little louder, our signature drink (mojito) flowed a little freer. It was Jenny who decided that we should hit the dance floor. I could not believe my ears. After all, Tammy is the life of the party...not Jenny. Jenny proceeded to the dance floor and then we followed. It was then that we realized that our two Ricky Martin look-alike joined us on the floor. We giggled and tried to keep up with them. Clearly, they were trained dancers and found a way to show and shake what their 'mama' gave them.
The old adage is true; "time flies when you are having fun." It had been over three hours since we had been out chatting, dining, drinking, and of course, dancing with those perfect 'human specimens." Thank God we opted to individually drive and decided to hire a car service. We were spent and little under the influence. Jenny as always was a trouper and suggested that we 'crashed' by her tiny apartment. We felt like teenagers and giggled and once again chatted for hours until the wee hours. Here's to girls' night out!
