Thanksgiving gets overlooked as shops jump from Halloween to decking the shelves for Christmas. Shoppers who are willing to look beyond the glitz won’t be disappointed with the 2010 products for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The following list of best Thanksgiving products includes something practical, something playful and something to help remember the true meaning of the holiday.

The Giving Box- the Fred Rogers Company

Mr. Roger’s isn’t spending his days in his neighborhood any more but even posthumously he’s still helping children learn.  The Giving Box provides a creative way for parents to teach their children about the importance of helping others.  It includes a charity box with a fable themed book focused on giving and receiving different kinds of gifts.  The gift set includes activities that could be used to gather donations to give to a person in need.

The Giving Box is a perfect product for Thanksgiving.  Families can talk about what makes each of them thankful and transition into the importance of helping others. With the timely focus on compassion and helping others, it doesn’t include religious overtones.  For those who prefer to blend spirituality with the Giving Box, it would be a good fit.  Depending on the site, it sells in the $30 range.

NuWave Oven- As Seen On TV

Going straight from a charitable topic to As Seen On TV is quite a contrast but the NuWave Oven shown in the tacky infomercials is the real deal.  Some of the products touted in ASOT format might be more about greed than quality. The NuWave Oven is not one of them.

Think of the convenience of taking a turkey straight from the freezer to the NuWave Oven. It uses convection, conduction and infrared heat to cut roasting time in half. The end result is the tender moist turkey from dinner guest’s dreams.  NuWave oven owners claim if they didn’t want to bake a cake once in a while, their conventional ovens would never get used. It is well worth the $100+ price tag.

Prima Bottled Water

This new product should make everyone thankful for Thanksgiving 2010 and far beyond.  Prima Bottled Water packaging is made with plant based plastic water bottles. The plastic bottle biodegrades in 30 days.  Now you can hand out bottles of water to guests or stock it for yourself without any guilt.  It’s green!
