Poetry: Burning daylight

by Jessica A. Tucker

Burning daylight.

Scorching skin.

Tempers rage

Under the flaring sun.

A full moon crested

Past and gone,

To daylights break

The plump face looks on.

Watching the world

Awake from dark sleep

Watching, from a vast ocean of blue

Slowly arching, a sinking ship,

Disappearing, tips the ancient man.

Dark to light, the horizon changing.

Darkness rises, shadows fade.

Scorched skin, past gone-

Burning daylight begins again.
