Paintings paint the painter
Whatever within shall show itself
Though mediums vary yet still there’s beauty
In the colors’ swirl, we tell our tales
Through disciplined craft and flowing strokes
To move the human heart to see anew
But modern art is but a world apart
Some thoughtful works by those who think
And much awful filth by the manic ill
Pointless pontification of little substance
For the works are dumb and speak not
And some are vulgar reflections of vulgar minds
Whose only purpose is to insult decency
For their purpose in art is to question reason
To separate notion and mastery
So that the ‘unlearned’ will never see the the intention
So whence once simple reflection is given freely
Now we trust blindly in madness
The ink blot tests paid in millions
And made in seconds…

I imagine sometimes
That I am abstract
One line connecting another
Circles and dots
Dividing parts
Paintings paint the painter

In the
Bucolic brownish/bluish black beret.
Tossed onto his aching head late yesterday.
Brushes and paints strewn across the table.
I am not sophisticated
Well informed or educated
In the values that are used
I am just a bit bewildered
Of the issues complicated
I could shove a cat inside a donkey
and throw eggs at a wall;
it doesn’t mean that it means
anything.
