Product reviews: MAC Venomous Villains Magically Cool Liquid Powder

Created on: November 10, 2010

"Venomous Villains" is a collection of limited edition cosmetics by the premium cosmetics company, MAC. There are many different types of make-up featured in this limited edition, Disney-themed collection but most notably is the Magically Cool Liquid Powder; a powder that MAC claims will cool and hydrate your skin, as it is made of 70% water.

The powder pot itself features the villain from Disney's "the Princess and the Frog", Dr. Facilier - the only male Disney villain to feature in this collection - and it comes in the usual MAC style; a simple black pot.

This product is currently available in just one shade - a sheer pinkish/brownish color - which should suit most skin tones. Previously, MAC also offered another shade but it is no longer available to purchase from their website.

The powder itself is loose and doesn't look any different to any other MAC powders, even after you've loaded your brush.

The first time you will notice a difference between this loose powder and any others by MAC, is when you start applying it to your face; it feels as though you're brushing water on your face, which will feel very strange at first. As wet as the product feels, it is safe to use with almost any foundations and concealers and shouldn't cause any "harm" to the finish.

If you have uneven skin, such as blackheads or acne scarring, you should apply this product very carefully, as it can sometimes cause the uneven skin to look more obvious and you may find that your skin looks like it has little pits.

On all complexions and skin tones, this powder will give a healthy glow and a slight "dewiness", without making your skin appear oily. Despite how dark the powder appears in the pot, it really is very sheer and shouldn't stand out and need excessive blending, even on very fair complexions.

This product should be used the same way you would use a bronzer or highlighter; by just applying the product along the apples of your cheeks to your temples and down the bridge of the nose. As with all loose powders, be very careful when loading the brush with this product, as it is very easy to apply too much and making yourself look "caked".

This product is very long lasting and almost smudge-proof but still comes off easily with make-up removing wipes or cleansers.

Considering that this product is part of a limited edition MAC collection, it is inexpensive for less than $30 and will last a long time, as you won't need to use much of it. It is highly recommended.
