Poetry: Motherhood

by Judy Corcoran

Created on: November 10, 2010

You two were my reason for bothering to try

You two were my chance to be giving

You two were my purpose, my inspiration

You two were my reason for living

If I could choose a moment

to spend eternity

it would be an instance, that instant in time

when you were there by me,

you two.

You two were my candles guiding me home

You two were my northern lights

You two were my stars and my moon and my world

You two were my suns rising bright

If I could choose a moment

to spend eternity

it would be an instance, that instant in time

when you were there by me,

you two.

You two were my soul’s supreme intention

You two were my strongest part

You two were my greatest love in this world because

You two grew under my heart

If I could choose a moment

to spend eternity

it would be an instance, that instant in time

when you were there by me,

you two.
