Facebook is a great way to keep in contact with people we know and to establish new friendships or relationships with people we don’t know very well or don’t know at all. Sometimes the friendships are great and work out well; sometimes they don’t work out the way we expected.
When it comes to Facebook or any other type of social media contact, there may come a time for our own reasons that we need to sever contact with a specific person or people. There are many good reasons to delete people from your list on Facebook and the reason are up to the individual doing the deleting but if it comes to the point where it needs to be done, people can be deleted from a Facebook friends fairly easily using the following three steps;
1. While you’re logged into Facebook, go to ‘Account’ in the top right corner and click on the drop down arrow. Click the ‘Edit friends’ option. This will be directly under your name and profile picture.
2. Now you will see your list of Facebook friends. If the person you wish to remove is not in this list, click on the drop down arrow at the top just under the word ‘Friends’, and scroll down until you see the option ‘All friends’. Clicking on this will show a list of all your connections.
3. Find the person you want to delete and click on the ‘X’ to the right of their name. Facebook will confirm that you want to remove the connection with this person by giving you a ‘remove from friends’ or ‘cancel’ option. To completely remove this person, select ‘remove from friends’.
These are three very easy steps to remove your Facebook friends if you feel the need to. In addition to removing these friends, you may also want to block them (depending on the type of friend you found them to be). To do this, just do a search on them or find them through a friends list, then on the bottom of their profile page, you will see an option that says report / block this person. This is not necessary to do for every friend you delete but might be worth doing for specific people.
Facebook does change on a regular basis and they have this way of moving things around, especially options like removing people. The above three steps explains the current (as at 10 November 2010) way to remove connections from Facebook.
The three steps above are the simplest way to remove friends from your Facebook list. The person you remove receives no message or any type of notification to say that you have removed them.
