Divided souls
but bonded by Trees
a shrine has entombed
our Sons memories
your Tree is ours
and ours yours.
We share the same pain
and heartache
but also share
the fruits of hope and love
through the abundance
of tears trickling
down the Weeping Willow
and Golden Conifer
that were planted
for our Sons to know
they are not forgotten.
I often look out
to the corner
of this garden
on a Winter's morn
yellow beaked Starling
probing the earth's
surface for worms
squirming in blades
of wet grass.
When I look toward the Tree
a Golden Conifer
a shrine for the Son you lost.
I know when you
are looking toward
the Weeping Willow
you are thinking
of our loss too
and both of whom
are bonded by
those Two Trees.
(We exchanged homes
but left the trees
for our Sons memories).
