Verse 1
They're all around, they're everywhere
In media, politics, business and work
With professional fronts and smiling glares
They toss word-salads to lie, knee-jerk
Verse2
They're "nice" to you and they smile well
But you can sense they aren't on your side
Lying now is acceptable
Fine for self-interest, greed and pride
Verse 3
They lie for power, for advancement of 'me'
No longer regarding respect for truth
You should really watch and see
How people lie now - it's uncouth
Chorus-
Lies, lies and more lies
Prevailing now - in society
It seems that many consciences fail
Lying is now propriety
Verse 4
Even some 'Christians' think it's okay
As if God concurs, understands, agrees
People just don't keep their word these days
A very scarce trait now - integrity
Verse 5
The "mark of the beast" is not external
It's on the countenance of fallen man
Turning away from God eternal
Corruption permeates the land
Verse 6
Check it out and see for yourself
The "system" rides upon the beast
Tossing words around quite well
Avoiding truth in the very least
Chorus-
Lies, lies and more lies
Prevailing now in society
It seems that many consciences fail
Lying is now propriety
Verse 7
A handshake used to be the rule
To honor contracts, promised words
But now the stigma of lying - is "cool"
Honest folks - are now deferred
Verse 9
Now good is wrong and bad is right
Society decaying before our eyes
Honesty light gives way to the night
People lie - while integrity dies
Chorus-
Lies, lies and more lies
Prevailing now - in society
It seems that many consciences fail
Lies are now propriety
