The advantages of going to university

University can be a wonderful experience and a life changing one, that changes a persons life for the better and has many different advantages. Although there are also bad points to going to univeristy, these are normally countered by the advantages and the fact that many opportunities in life are just not open or easily accessible to non-graduates. The advantages range from salary after graduate to the actual life lessons you learn whilst not only studying at university but also living the life of a student and for many students living on there own or practically on there own for the first time in there lives.

The first advantage for going to university is that it is a proven fact that the average salary for a graduate is higher than that off a non-graduate. This difference off course varies between university subjects, professions, degree classifications and university attended, but it is still a known fact that in order to have the best possible chance off obtaining a high position of employment and the matching wage you have to attend university. There are cases of non-graduates who have done extremely well but they are rare and for the most part high paying jobs require a degree.

Another advantage for going to university is not only the prospects once you leave university but also the lessons and experiences you gain whilst attending university. For many students, this is there first time living independently and being fully responsible for not only there life but also there studying. Therefore for many student there is a large transition and steep learning curve when they first enter university, which  is partly the reason why in many university degrees the first year marks don't count towards your final degree mark and it's simply a matter of passing the year. So it's during this time at university that students learn there first real life lessons off taking care off themeselves and many learn this through a process of trial and error that they simply would not be able to go through unless at university, as no other stage of life gives you that freedom and responsibility yet in a secure enough environment where you have the support if anything does go drastically wrong.

A third advantage of going to university is learning about something your interested in or passionate about with like minded people. Many university students even those who dislike there subjects and are often bored by it, still have that on topic/unit or lecture which completely interests them and makes them passionate about there subject. This is what motivates many subjects, as the subject there studying is something there interested in, and it is only at university than you to are to get so involved in the subject and discuss and be taught many times by the leading researchers in that subject.
