Poetry: My painful past

by James Lyons

Created on: November 08, 2010

TITLE: AFTERMATH

From time to time

These seismic shifts

They redefine

Create great rifts

More than trembling

Rolling, rocking

More than ringing

More than knocking

Swinging fixtures

Fear and screaming

Grab your pictures

You're not dreaming

Walls start tumbling

Only instinct

Life is changing

Less than a blink

Rubble smolders

Quiet rain

Instantly older

Loss and pain

Assessing damage

Lonely tear

Unknown future

Shaking fear

East horizon

Cracks the dawn

There she walks

Across the lawn

Seated down

Comforting shoulder

Strength rebuilding

Growing bolder

Such ancient days

Such perfect times

Did not create

Nor did define

Not until now

Push comes to shove

Do you see her

Do you see love
