TV show reviews: How I Met Your Mother

"Let me tell you a story kids."  If there were a way to tell a story of how you met your first love and the journey it takes you on is as crazy as you believe then you got a hit TV show.  How I met Your Mother is just that, a great TV comedy that tells the journey of a single man that is ready for the next step of his life.  He's got the great job, great friends but one thing is still missing the love of his life.  Well he has got the woman of his life, but the show is the journey finding that such woman which he is trying to unveil to his own kids but wants to teach lessons on the way and show just how much one guy will do to find love.

Involved in this journey are five friends. Ted Mosbey, the architect and the guy telling the story, Barney Stinson the die hard bachelor who will stop at nothing to to just say "suit up!" A TV anchor named Robin Scherbatsky who always feels torn between the life of career and love. Then finally the couple that makes every other couple sick because they are so right for one another Marshall and Lilly Erickson.

So what so great about this show? It may seem drawn out of how a man meets the woman of his life but that is what is so clever because you are always wondering through all the girls Ted does meet, which one will be Mrs. Right?.  Especially a guy like Ted and with four others that will really do anything for him to see him happy.  Sure they all fight, break apart and get back together but that is what makes each character great because they compliment each other and go far and beyond regular friendship..

Doubters of the show will say it's too much like Friends or Will and Grace or even kind of like Entourage in a strange way.  Regardless the show does have unique characteristics that other shows do not.  The story withing the story is what keeps you wanting more but it's the funny stories that come along that make the ride worth while.  Plus this cast with Jason Segel as Marshall Alyson Hannigan as Lilly, Neil Patrick Harris as Barnie, Colbie Smulders as Robin and Josh Radnor as Ted and with Bob Saget as the voice over and future Ted Mobsey the show just works. Anyone can relate to the stories no matter even if you are still single, married or a bachelor like Barney that has maybe been with every woman in New York, yet still wants more.

Sure it has been five seasons and now half way through six with the same story, will Ted find his love? Obviously he does in the end but in due time for now, enjoy the ride and enjoy the show.  Barney is a riot Marshall is hilarious and the woman are just as funny, you just want to root for Ted, the same way you root your favorite team.
