Attractions

The Southbank Arts Precinct is the city’s cultural heart. Look for the spire atop the Arts Centre it is one of Melbourne’s most recognised landmarks and can be seen from most Melbourne hotels. The Arts Centre hosts more than two million visitors at 6000 events annually. From Opera to stand-up comedy you are sure to find something to suit you. Right next door is the National Gallery of Victoria showcasing a permanent collection of international and Australian artists and the best of touring collections.

A short walk from the Arts Centre is Eureka Skydeck. The highest public observation deck in the southern hemisphere provides 360 degree panoramic views. Eureka Skydeck is also home to The Edge. Muster your courage and step into this glass cube that projects three metres out from the building. The feelings evoked by being suspended almost 300 metres above the ground and looking down through the glass floor will ensure you never forget your visit.

Standing as a visual introduction to the fun of the Crown Entertainment Complex are eight, ten metre tall gas towers. Lining the boardwalk of the Yarra River they release fireballs into the air once an hour after
