Leaves crunch underfoot
Sunlight struggles through treetops
As I explore here
I find beauty without end
The forest welcomes me home.

Poetry: Tanka about the forest
by Cindy Abbate
Canopy of woven branches
Haven for the wild things left
The woods call to us
Have the wisdom let me be
I provide for nature’s
A group of trees hides
Secrets that are hidden from
View and the vivid
Greens and browns are dominant
Throughout the forest
by Natasha Head
Ancestors stand tall
Warriors against the saw
Ancient wisdom calms
Steadfast and strong against odds
Here I remain, protected
by Gary Maclean
Meandering paths
Wandering through the forest
Sunlight drifting through
Broken gaps in branches and
Openings in colored
Forest old and strong,
Savaged by Man's axe and fire.
Lungs of Earth's surface
Clogged only for Man's desire.
The future
