Poetry: Tanka about the ocean
by Scott Scherr
My soul is sailing,
set adrift on calm expanse.
A liquid dreamscape
flows beneath my ship on waves
of chance- I search
Blue-green and white tipped,
Expanding beyond all sight;
Waters of the world.
Covering the lower depths,
Our Mother Earth's
Your waters are deep.
Earth needs you for existence.
Full of life unknown:
we can only begin to
imagine your magnitude.
by Fiona Mather
Mighty ocean roars
Teasingly enticing you
Liquid, rich with life
Sun-light glinting off the waves
A constant rolling
Waves sweep the shoreline,
Grasping the sands like mothers
grasp their children's hands
Smooth against the pebbles' edge,
Oceans
