Can you keep a secret? Sometimes when a woman is really attracted to a man she will act as if she doesn’t care about him at all. She may even pretend to dislike him!  Of course, a woman might act in exactly the same way when she truly doesn’t care.  Here are some common signs to help you tell the difference.

1. Does she think you are pursuing another woman?  Women are competitive. If she thinks you might like someone else, the last thing she will want to do is show that she likes you and face rejection.  She will want you to pursue her, making it clear that you are interested in her and her alone.  Until that point, she will act as if she doesn’t care about you.

2. Do you have a reputation as a player? If she wants to be more than just your next conquest, she may pretend to dislike you, even if she finds you attractive.  You will have to pay your dues if you want to date a woman in this case. Show her that you are serious, and that you want more than a one-night stand. Alternately you’ll have to convince her a one-night stand is all she wants, and having one with you would be an empowering adventure.

3.  Does she look at you often? Women analyze every move and every word from a man they are attracted to.  Does she sit near you, but not beside you, close enough to be in ear shot? Does she start conversations with you without really needing to? Have you ever caught her asking someone about you?  Women are only curious about men they like.

4.  Do you bump into her often?  Rather than admit to liking a man, a woman may simply put herself in his path, hoping to run into him “accidentally.”

5.  Is she in a relationship? At the end of a relationship, a woman may become attracted to other men. Of course, admitting these feelings before her old relationship has ended would make her a bad person, so she will pretend not to feel the way she does.

If you think a woman likes you but is playing hard to get, one of the best ways to find out is to use reverse psychology.  Ask her out, be open about your feelings, be aggressive, and when she says no, stop.  Ignore her back. Show interest in another woman, perhaps one of her friends.  If she is interested in you, she will feel the withdrawal of your attentions and she will feel intense competition with the other woman.  After a few days you could casually propose some sort of a joint activity (not necessarily a date) for the two of you, and she will likely jump at the chance.
