In order for your computer to run faster you must perform regular maintenance on your Personal Computer (PC). Now that sounds scary but it’s pretty simple. Here is what you need to do:
1.Delete Cookies and Temporary Internet Files
Cookie is a term that basically means a foot print of where you have been on the internet. These are small files, but can add up over time if you do not delete them regularly. You can do this by opening an internet window and clicking on “Tools” in the menu bar at the top of the window. Then choose “Internet Options” from the “Tools” Menu. Depending on the type of internet browser you use your options here may be different. For example: If using the latest version of Internet Explorer when you click on “Internet Options” you will have the choice, under the “General” tab, to delete your browsing history, which includes temporary internet files, history, cookies, saved passwords, and web form information. When you click on “Delete” a window will come up for you to choose which items you want to delete. If you want to keep your saved passwords, like when you go to log into Facebook or your Hotmail account and the password automatically pops up for you, make sure you UNCHECK this item before deleting the files.
2.Delete Unused Software and Toolbars
Sometimes even new computers come with software, or even toolbars, you will never use; they just take up space and cause your computer to run slower. Before you delete software make sure it is not something you need for your computer to run properly. For example: you do not need 5 different media players for your PC. If you only typically use one to listen to music, like Windows Media Player, you can delete the others. Now, software such as Adobe flash player is needed for you to view video content on your PC and on the internet, so do not delete this unless you are installing a newer version of Flash Player. Tool bars like “Bing Bar”, or “Yahoo! Toolbar” are not needed, and should only be kept if you use it. You can find out if you use them by opening an internet window and looking at the top of your internet window where your “Google” Toolbar is. IF you do not use anything other than the Google toolbar, you can delete the others. Just clicking the “X” button at the front of the toolbar doesn’t delete it from your PC. You will still need to delete
