The value of your vote, and how to use it

There is more to voting than just showing up to the polls. Its like parenting, a day of fun can brings years of responsibility. Voters need to do research, vote for the right candidates, and hold those candidates responsible throughout the duration of their term. Often, parents blame schools for their childrens lack of learning; likewise we blame politicians for going wild. Voting is one of the most important responsibilities for each American.

Politicians are like the cards that are in the wallets of the constituencies.  Like credit cards have Visa and Mastercard, politicians normally are either democrat or republican.  Sure there are some random cards like Diners Club card; there are some random parties like the green party, libertarian party and “the rent is to damn high” political party. Like choosing a credit card, people should  understand what they are getting with their elected officials, and  read the fine print. On the news these credit cards are being criticized for screwing the people, the finger could be pointed right back to their uninvestigated choices. America can not just point the finger at the politicians for its problem. At times, the blame can be squarely put  America for its lack of routine involvement and its poor choices in selecting its leaders.

Dave Ramsey said “There is no positive side to credit card use. You will spend more if you use credit cards.”  Consumers can act more irresponsible when just they use a card opposed to cash. When we chose “R” or “D”, we can also vote irresponsible. All candidates should have a plan of action for what they are going to do, not just preach how bad their opponent is.  Remember vagueness is how credit cards get business, or a track uninformed consumers. Parties prey on voters to use their emotions in the polling booth, so they can advance their objectives with what they call a “mandate”. Credit card companies hope consumers don’t read monthly statements. Just like some politicians planned the Iraq war or Obamacare in secret or on not so watch channel of C-span. Politicians need to be held accountable regularly, not just every two years in November.

America should vote, get involved, and not sit on the sidelines.  No politician should think they know more then the people he or she serves, but because of the lack of involvement, some politicians get away with that thought. In the last several years, political involvement has increased because of the disconnect between Politicians and citizens. The wave of change has gone from “R” to “D” to “R”, but the great question is, can America have more of a regular impact on its government?

People need to continue to be involved. By watching C-span and all forms of media, people can be informed. They need to communicate with their representatives, inform the elected officials what they did right or wrong. If the politician doesn’t act right, vote him or her out. Remember, when people point the finger for their problems there are four pointing back at them.
