Thursday November 11, 2010 is Veteran’s Day and many companies offer discounts to Veterans on this day as a small way to say thank you. Here is a list of free and discounted items and services for our brave active-duty Service Members and Veterans.
Appplebee’s – On Thursday November 11th, Veteran’s and active-duty Service Members eat one of 7 entrée choices for free at any Applebee’s restaurant in the United States. Visit

McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants – Celebrating their 12th annual Veteran’s Appreciation Event on Sunday November 7, 2010, McCormick & Schmick’s is offering a free lunch or dinner to any eligible veteran. Special offerings include Cashew-Crusted Tilapia, Seafood Fettuccini Alfredo and Cedar-Planked Salmon. Golden Corral – On Monday November 15, 2011, Golden Corral is giving a free “thank you” dinner to anyone is currently serving in or a veteran of the U.S. Military. The event will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and the free dinner includes a beverage. Visit their website www.goldencorral.com/military for more details.
Outback Steakhouse – On Thursday November 11th, every Outback location in the country will give a free Bloomin’ Onion and non-alcoholic beverage to active duty military personnel and veterans. Check out www.outback.com/pressroom/pr_101018.aspx for more details.
Uno Chicago Grille – Uno’s is offering a free entrée or pizza with the purchase of another entrée or pizza for all veterans and active duty military. For more information about this offer, visit http://www.unos.com/vet1.html
Home Depot and Lowes – Both Home Depot and Lowes are giving a 10% discount for Veteran’s Day, to all veterans, active, reserve, honorably discharged and retired military personnel and their immediate family members. Both companies have recently announced that the military discount will now be offered every day. Visit www.lowes.com for more information about the military discount.
Fee Free Day at National Parks – On November 11, 2010 America’s service men and women can explore over 100 National Parks for free. For information on participating parks, check out http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparks.htm
Bed and Breakfast for Vets – B&B for Vets has gotten over 800 Inns across the United States and Canada to participate in the second year of this program. Both active duty military members and veterans can receive a free night’s stay on November 10th. You need to hurry though, because rooms are limited. To make reservations, visit www.bnbsforvets.org
To take advantage of any of the great offers, make sure to have your proof of service available. Some acceptable forms of identification are U.S. Uniform Services ID Card (active/reserve/retired), Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), photograph in uniform, wearing a uniform, Veterans Organization Card (American Legion and VFW) or DD241.
While nothing can ever repay the great sacrifice our veterans and military members have made for their country, these business hope that their small gesture of appreciation can help make a memorable Veteran’s Day for those who have served us all so bravely.
