The first video games were made between 1950 and 1960 by Jon Snell and ran on platforms such as oscilloscope or computer ED-SAC. The oldest computer game, a simulated rocket was created in 1947. Later in 1952, a version of the game Noughts and Crosses was created by AS Douglas as part of the doctoral dissertation at the University of Cambridge. In 1958 was created Tennis for Two in the Brook haven National Laboratories, located in Upton, New York, to entertain visitors to the laboratory. În 1962 appeared the game Space war. Program run on a DP-1 and is considered by many experts as the first computer game and the most important ever made.
In 1968 Ralph Baer , who will be known later as the father of video games, has patented a version of a game console called Television Gaming and Training Apparatus. In 1967 , Baer has created a ping-pong like game console that looked like Tennis for Two (and future arcade game Pong). He worked with Magnavox in 1972 and created the first console, called the Magnavox Odyssey.
Arcade games were developed in the 70s and due to ease of use have gained immense popularity which led to the period of about a decade called the golden age of arcade games. The first arcade game coin-Operated (works only with money) was Computer Space, created in 1971 by Nolan Bushnell.
Consoles
First generation (1972-1977)

The second generation (1977-1983)
